The 2021 Ford Bronco Range Explained

Even though 2020 wasn’t exactly an excellent year for the automotive industry in general, the introduction of the new Ford Bronco made it memorable for all car fans. New Bronco is much more than just a revival of a famous name and much more than just a retro-futuristic model. It marks the glorious return of real off-road models to the market and Ford`s attention to the niche market of people looking for dependable vehicles, filled with modern features and with undeniable all-terrain capabilities.

To cover the most significant chunk of the market, Ford developed a three-model strategy that should appeal to almost any buyer. From the bare-bones, stripped-down base model to fully Baja 1000 ready version, over the more civilian Bronco Sport, Ford has addressed all aspects of the market. However, since the new Bronco comes in so many flavors right from the start, we feel it is best to thoroughly explain the range and help you decide which one is the best for you.

Three body-styles

Right from the start, the new Bronco is available in three body styles. The standard Bronco will be made as two and four-door versions, with or without the removable top. Also, there will be a Bronco Sport, a five-door model with a fixed roof, built on Ford Ranger chassis, representing a slightly more conventional SUV offering aimed at family buyers. The Bronco Sport could be considered a revival of Bronco II (made from 1984 to 1990), a smaller and less powerful alternative to the standard, V8-powered Bronco model of the day.

The three-model strategy is designed to provide customers with a wide choice. The two-door Bronco is aimed at the off-road enthusiast who is looking for a short wheelbase machine, ideal for challenging tasks of rock-crawling or driving through the forest. With its longer wheelbase, the four-door model is designed for owners who have active hobbies, like to travel in a company, and need more interior space. The Bronco Sport, on the other hand, with its better road manners, is perfect as a family off-road SUV, which can be a usable commuter vehicle during the week and ideal companion for a camping trip with the kids on the weekends.

Six different trim levels for Bronco and three for Bronco Sport

Incredibly, Ford had prepared six different trim levels along with the seventh, the “First Edition” model for Bronco. The Bronco Sport will also be available in three trims along with the “First Edition” limited-run model. The prices start at an affordable $28,155 for base Bronco Sport and $29 995 for two-door, entry-level Bronco.

Base Bronco

For just under $30k, the buyers will get cloth interior, 16-inch steel wheels with all-season tires, standard all-wheel-drive, and 7-speed manual transmission. The base engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, but you can opt for a 2.7-liter V6 and 10-speed automatic. The 8-inch infotainment display and five driving modes are part of the package, along with seven exterior colors to choose from.

Big Bend Bronco

Starting at $34,480 MSRP, the Big Bend Bronco offers 17-inch aluminum wheels with better tires, more color options, few premium touches in the interior like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and privacy glass. The drive train is unchanged, with 2.3-liter four-cylinder as standard.

Black Diamond Bronco

The Black Diamond ($37 545) trim level is where things are getting serious. Steel front and rear bumpers, more driving modes, more aggressive tires, and overhead auxiliary switches for accessories are all part of this package. The drive train is unchanged and interesting details are vinyl seats and rubberized water-proof cabin floor for easier washing.

Outer Banks Bronco

At $40,450, this Bronco is designed to offer a touch of luxury with less driving modes but with LED lights, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a bigger touch screen and safety options. It comes with the choice of a few more colors and 18-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires.

Wildtrack Bronco

This desert runner starts at $50k and provides its owner with a Sasquatch off-road package and 2.7-liter V6 as standard. The heated cloth seats are included, but you can opt for leather. The Wildtrack comes with different graphics, and it is recognizable for its big 35-inch off-road tires.

Badlands Bronco

Ford is marketing the Badlands as the most capable Bronco. Still, it doesn’t come with a competent Sasquatch package, including heavy-duty suspension bits, locking front and rear differentials, and special shocks. This trim level starts at $43,590 and has a bare-bones interior (washable rubber floor). However, it comes with some pretty trick suspension components like hydraulic front sway-bar disconnect and aggressive tires. The steel front and rear bumpers are part of this trim.

First Edition Bronco

Starting at a whopping $60,800, First Edition Bronco is designed as a collector`s item since only 3,500 will be made. Apparently, all have been spoken for, and if you want to get one, you will have to pay a premium. The First Edition comes with every piece of equipment from Badlands Bronco, plus a desirable Sasquatch package, and on top of that, the Lux package. It includes adaptive cruise control, a premium audio system, touch screen navigation, leather interior, and much more. It also comes in four unique colors and special graphics.

Big Bend Bronco Sport

The cheapest 2021 Bronco is the Big Bend Sport model with a base price of just over $28,000. It comes with steel 17-inch wheels, cloth interior, SiriusXM radio, and 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine.

Outer Banks Bronco Sport

Priced at $33,655, this more expensive model but also offers significantly more than the base-trim Bronco Sport. The drive train and engine choices are the same, but the buyers will get a 6.5-inch digital instrument panel, leather seats, and a host of other upgrades.

Badlands Bronco Sport

With the base price of $34,155, the Badlands package is just slightly more expensive than the Outer Banks but offers a lot more in terms of off-road equipment and components. It comes with a 2.7-liter V6 engine as standard, bigger tires, an 8-speed automatic, and rubberized floor.

First Edition Bronco Sport

Priced at just under $40,000, the First Edition is the most expensive and rarest Bronco Sport you can get. Ford announced that they would make only 2000 examples for the 2021 model year. It comes with the Badlands package and various other upgrades, like a premium audio system, towing package, bigger tires, special graphics, and unique paint.
